The Hartley House, chic beach cottage seamlessly blending the cozy warmth of home with the invigorating ocean breeze

Step into an open-plan kitchen, living room, and lounge area that flows effortlessly through double sliding doors to a spacious veranda and entertainment area, offering a refreshing and airy ambiance.

The kitchen features a comfortable breakfast bar and comes equipped with all the essentials, including a gas stove/oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, and a washing machine and chest freezer conveniently placed in the scullery.

The lounge invites relaxation with its plush sofas around the TV for those rainy afternoons, and features select DSTV channels and an Android box. Log into your preferred service provider for your entertainment requirements. There is also a guest powder room for added convenience.

If you need to work, there is a distinctive blue office hallway next to the lounge, equipped with a 22-inch computer screen that you can connect your laptop to (please bring your own HDMI cable). There is Internet (10Mb line speed) and Wi-Fi are available. However, Internet is not included in our service as we are unable to guarantee connectivity

Escape to the master bedroom featuring a luxurious king-size bed, an en-suite bathroom, and a TV with a selection of DSTV channels. Enjoy views of the garden or stroll out onto the veranda through the sliding door.

The second bedroom features a snug double bed and includes access to an shared en-suite bathroom

This bathroom boasts a spacious shower complete with sturdy grab handles by the toilet and within the shower area. Additionally, there's a shower chair available for elderly guests if needed.

The third bedroom shares this bathroom via sleek sliding barn doors. This room contains two single beds that can merge into a king-size bed if desired.

Stretching the entire length of the house, the expansive covered veranda is a haven for summer relaxation. Equipped with ceiling fans to ward off the heat, it features a cozy seating area with patio couches, a 10-seater dining table, a sheltered braai/BBQ spot.

There is a hidden hot outdoor shower and fish-cleaning station around the corner—crafting an ideal retreat that feels like home.

All the bedrooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans for your comfort in summer. And the house receives daily cleaning service. There is a communal pool area that all guests are welcomes to use

The entire house and garden are yours to enjoy, perfect for evening drinks and barbecues on your private veranda and garden. After washing your boat and cleaning your catch at the fish-cleaning station, you can freshen up with a hot outdoor shower.

Generators
We are reliance on Eskom for electricity, occasional load shedding may occur. If you use the Eskom load shedding app we are within “Nondabuya (2)” area. You are welcome to bring your own generator, which can be safely housed and connected to the house electricity circuit.

While Internet and Wi-Fi are available, they are not included in our service due to the unreliable connections in Sodwanabay.

Location and directions
When driving into Sodwana Bay, look for Brokensha Place on the left, (just before Shark Life/Occi Lodge). Turn left into Brokensha Place, travel down a short dirt road suitable for all vehicles. We are the last silver gate at the end of the road.

Cancellation Policy
*Self-catering Establishments* require full payment to secure bookings during peak holiday periods (Easter, long weekends, mid-December to mid-January, and the July school holidays in KwaZulu-Natal). For other times, a 50% deposit secures the booking, with the balance due 30 days before arrival. Cancellations forfeit the deposit or full payment, though typically 90% of funds are refunded if the unit is rebooked.
