pisces-retreat-01General Information
Pisces Dive Charter is a personalised private dive operation operating in Sodwana Bay.
Due to the charter being owner run, professional service of the highest quality is guaranteed with safety as our most important priority.

Sodwana Bay is situated in Zululand, the place of the people of the heavens.
Situated on the east coast of Southern Africa, it forms the northern portion of KwaZulu-Natal, one of the nine provinces of South Africa. This stretch of the African continent is a land of diversely exquisite beauty.

pisces-retreat-02The coastline stretches some three hundred and fifty kilometres from the mouth of the mighty Tugela River in the south to the Mozambique border in the north.
The golden eastern shores are caressed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and include endless unspoilt beaches and coastal conservation areas, and incorporate the largest estuarine system in Southern Africa.
Sodwana Bay is incorporated in the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, which is South Africa’s third largest park.
The rich resource endowment of the IWP was recently recognised when the St Lucia Wetlands became South Africa’s first inscription on the World Heritage List.

Sodwana Bay has five main reefs, which are the most predominantly dived reefs in the area for the average casual diver, namely: Quarter-mile, Two-mile, Four/Five-mile, Seven-mile & Nine-mile reefs. They are named as such for their distances from Jesser Point.
All launches are from a semi-rigid boat, which caters for eleven divers per dive.
Divers meet at our gazebo on the beach where the kitting up and dive briefings take place.

pisces-retreat-04Dolphins and Whales:
On the boat trips to and from the dive sites you may see dolphins, whale sharks or during winter, humpback whales. The humpback whales stay close to the continental shelf on their migration from Antarctic to Mozambique for calving every winter. Late in July is usually the peak of their northward migration.
Though little is known about the movements of whale sharks, they seem to migrate to the Maputaland coastline during summer. The gentle giants feed on plankton, taking in water through their huge mouths and filtering out the particles with their gill-rakers. They are often found behind back line at Jesser Point.

Deep-sea fishing:
Fishing trips on fully rigged deep-sea fishing boats are arranged with professionals for your enjoyment. Full day and half-day excursions can be arranged. The boats can cater for four & six fishermen respectively.

Flights are available over both the ocean where you can view the coast and marine life from up high or over Lake Sibaya where hippo’s and crocodiles roam freely. The flights are approx. ½ hour
pisces-retreat-10Sunset trips:
There are two favourite places to enjoy sundowners as the day draws to a close. Lake Mgoboseleni and Lake Sibaya both offer magnificent views. Lake Mgoboseleni offers views over the lake as well as the ocean in the distance. The lake is close to Sodwana bay and can also be reached by a hiking trail, which starts at the KZN-Wildlife reception. Lake Sibaya is the largest freshwater lake in the southern Africa. The beauty of the Lake at sunset is breathtaking. It is a popular site to spend the day, to stop over via 9-mile or to go for sundowners. Hippo, crocodile and a numbers of water bird species call the Lake home.
